help ladies!

I went to the doctor the other day and he said I can't travel past thanksgiving and I'm due December 28th (not a surprise though). My H and I live in Connecticut and we're from southwest Virginia, he's navy, so we are limited to when we can come home. My question is do any of you have any ideas of how or if I should even try to have a baby shower? Only close family and friends would come even if we were home. Any ideas?

Could you travel before then and have a shower then? Or maybe do a shower after, that way family back home can meet baby.

If someone offers to throw you a shower, go for it. If not you can just register to a couple places so ppl that are long distance can buy you a gift if they want. Most places give you a discount on the items in your registry so either way, register.

I thought about that, but I'm not too sure about his leave time. They have Christmas stand down and he'll get 10 days for paternity leave. I guess we'll see haha!

Perhaps someone will offer to throw you a shower in VA in October and you can make the trip alone. While it would be nice for your DH to attend, it's not a requirement. I've seen the fathertobe stop by the shower to thank everyone and perhaps have a piece of cake, but they're not really a required guest.

The only complication would be of you receive large gifts and have to get them home, but you can either ship them or return them down there and repurchase when you get back to CT. Or people may just have large items sent to you at home if they know you live out of state.

This. My husband is navy too, we are stationed in FL and I am from RI. We are having the shower in RI in October, and will be returning and repurchasing. Also my mom assured me that my family and friends are intelligent enough to know gift cards are always welcome. ;] [no snark.]

Wow, lucky - I'm due the 28th and I wasn't allowed to travel further than 50 miles in the first trimester and I'm not allowed to travel the same in the third trimester. Either way, I think plans are in the work for an October shower. We're in PA and I'm from SWVA also.

Yeah, I've heard of vansant! It's about 1 1/2 2 hours away from where we're from.

I know a lot of Sargent's too. I had some neighbors by the name and graduated with a few Sargent girls. My hometown is over the mountain from Grundy. I'm only comfortable with posting that bc on SWVA ppl would have any idea of where I'm talking about haha..Can't even find it on a map and GPS won't get you there either lol.

I probably have some cousins there! Haha and yeah I know! It's definitely too small of a place to even think about I guess. But 2 famous people came from Grundy! That's somethin to put on a map for sure
