I got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes when I first found out I was pregnant. I have been insulin dependent the entire time. I'm scheduled for an induction at 39 weeks (less than a week away) but I have this nagging feeling that I should let my body/the baby do what it's meant to do and go into labor in its own. I'm only 1-2 cm dilated, 50% eff and baby is still at -3 station.
I understand the risk is a very scary one since the placenta could stop providing for my son due to the pressure it's under. Even typing that out scares me but for some reason or other an induction still doesn't feel right.
Did anyone with type 2 refuse the induction? Any info. for me on this topic?
Re: Induction for Type 2
I am getting my induction date tomorrow, since I have gestational diabetes.
Like you, I'm really not thrilled at the idea of being induced, particularly since I want to birth med free, using Hypnobabies and induction can certainly boycott those plans.
But, I'm also not willing to take the risk of stillbirth because of my placenta degrading. Once I was put on insulin (in ever increasing doses), the OB became even more serious about me being induced and although I'm still asking questions and taking it day by day, I don't feel comfortable ignoring their advice if their is a risk to my baby.
