Just thinking of the future when I go back to work and what I should expect to pay if I do go the babysitter route. I an NOT looking for a nanny. Meaning , no cleaning, driving the kids any place or cooking..meals will be already prepared. It would be for 2 kids, a toddler and baby. I'm guessing about 7 to 8 hours a day. I've paid a past occassional sitter about 10 an hour. I'm in the state of NY, but not the city. So what would be a good hourly rate or daily rate? Also, any other websites other then care.com or sitter city? I found nothing but flakes on care.com and I don't know anyone who could recommend someone.
Re: pay rate for daily babysitter
Yeah, that is a nanny. Even if they don't do housework or run errands, they are still a nanny. I think babysitter more implies that it is not a regular occurrence.
Nanny prices can vary quite a bit by location, experience, number of children, etc. Care dot com has a tool you can use that will give you the "going rate" in your area. In my area (which is a medium to low COL area), it ranges from $10 to about $15 per hour for one child.
