Well today didn't exactly go as planned but we ended up with a healthy, happy baby boy! Came in for my cerclage removal at the specialists office/hoapital, not my regular OB. While we were already hooked up to the monitors and waiting for the procedure to begin, they lost the baby's heart rate. I had a long contraction that didnt
hurt at all, felt like a BH, about 4 minutes but enough to put him into distress. All of a sudden there were 8 nurses in the room, trying different positions, including hands and knees. Nothing. So they rushed us to the OR and started prepping for an emergency csection. They were able to get the fetal heart tones again, so we could all take a breather. DBF was amazing during the entire process and helped keep me calm web though I was freaking out. Decided to do the cerclage removal in the OR since we were already there and then sent us back to our room to monitor LO.
After several hours of perfect heart rate and movement, we started talking about moving to my regular OB/hospital where we intended to deliver. He had another dip in his heart rate and they decided to get him out ASAP. We were prepped and sent back to the OR. Spinal was placed and the incision happened. What a wierd feeling to be cut open but no pain! We were both crying out of fear and excitement, and soon thereafter we heard him crying. What an amazing sound!!!
Oliver Robert was born at 2:44. 5 lbs, 11 oz, 19 inches. He has strawberry blond hair and a cute button nose.
First feeding was great. He kept going for 50 minutes! Second feeding he was just a tired little guy. I was able to express some milk and get it into his mouth. We'll try again here soon.
Thanks for all your support this morning when I went in for the cerclage removal. I had a feeling something might/could happen but played it off. And thanks for all your support over the past months!! I plan to stay an August mom with an intro to the July mamas as well.
