Constipated and sharp pains

I have been so constipated lately and have had sharp little twinges and pains in all sorts of places in my stomach and around my waist line and sometimes it feels like my muscles have been pulled in my belly and also sharp but not unbareable pains in my vagina pelvic uterus and also it gets kind of hard on one side of my stomach sort of and then it goes away could it just be the baby moving or sitting in different places I'm 8 weeks pregnant any suggestions comments or any information to help me figure what it is thanks

Re: Constipated and sharp pains

  • Might ask doctor for a safe stool softener so you can go. I am 10weeks and I am going through the same thing. If you get stopped up for a while it will back up into your intestines and cause discomfort.

  • Try munching on dried fruits particularly apricots, peaches, cherries... These should all help with constipation.

  • I've been having a lot of discomfort due to constipation as well.  I talked to my doctor on Monday and he recommended Milk of Magnesia.  I took one dose of it the last three evenings, and today I was finally able to go!  I'm feeling so much better.
  • I haven't been constipated at all, but I have had some of the pains you're describing. They sort of felt as though something was pinching my ovaries. My midwife said these types of pains were normal because the uterus is growing. So that might be what you are experiencing along with just some intestinal discomfort. I would talk to your doctor about ways to ease your tummy troubles and definitely call if you're having intense stomach pain.
  • I can assure you that what you're feeling isn't the baby - who is less than an ounce. And if you're having constipation issues, the hard spots, pains, etc are all symptoms of that so I would talk with your Dr about natural/medical remedies.

Hope you feel better and things get moving Wink!

  • I was constipated at around 6 to 8 weeks and had pebblelike poop. I started drinking a ton of water and now my poop is back to normal!

  • Sounds like a mixture of constipation and round ligament pain.  I had to go to the ER for severe pains yesterday.  They said the pregnancy is normal but there is a gastro bug going around causing a lot of gas pains for people and especially pregnant women.  Also my uterus is tilted back putting pressure where it normally wouldn't.  Drink a ton of water and it will most likely ease up.  You're muscles will cramp and contract with out enough water.
