Age for bouncers

I want to get a bouncer with a vibration feature since I heard that this is soothing for babies.  However, the one that I was looking at states that it is only for babies that are able to hold their heads up by themselves (link attached).  Is this true for all vibrating bouncers?

Re: Age for bouncers

  • I have a Fisher Price Snugabunny bouncer. It says you can use it from birth. It was on sale at BRU for around 50. I can't vouch for how good it is, as I'm not due for a few more weeks.

  • Did you check the actual Baby Trend web site for their recommendations? I've learned not to trust the store websites after Amazon was wrong on their specs a few times. Most bouncers are for something like 625 lbs. I don't think I'd personally put a newborn in one but I used them from a couple weeks old on.

  • Most of them you can use from birth.  I would check their actual website.  I didn't use the bouncer or swing until dd was a few weeks old.  It might have been because she was tiny, but we did use our rnp from day 1.

We have the Fisher Price Monkey Bouncer (from Target) which has a vibrating feature.  We've been using it since birth with DD (she's 5 weeks) and she LOVES it.
  • I honestly have no idea why it would say that.  Personally I wouldn't think twice about using that from birth.  They must be covering their butts for something.

  • My guess that the reason they say that is several bouncers have an incline where the baby is more propped up, vs some that are flat or adjustable.  Might not be safe with vibration and infants lack of head control (similar to strollers that don't have full recline)?   My kids have never liked bouncers or swings that have the incline when they were tiny(I tried a bunch), but loved the Snuggabunny with the flat recline.   I know Bright Starts make a couple along with the mentioned FP Snuggabunny and I think the new Taggies one.  My Gracco pack and play cuddle cove also came with a really nice one.
