I drive a 2008 Honda Accord. DD is currently in a Britax Roundabout. Both our cars are paid off so I'd like to avoid trading one in for a minivan, to avoid any sort of monthly payment.
I've been doimg some research and I'm hoping to be able to fit 3 across in the back of my Accord but I'd need new carseats. I'd look at a Radian for DD. Her infant seat is a Graco Snugride 32 and we'd need to get another infant seat.
Anyone have any luck getting 3 carseats across in the back of a sedan? Especially one FF and two RF?
Should I look at getting two new Chicco Keyfit 30s?
Re: Carseat configuration for 3.
I don't know that any of the infant seats will be narroe enough to fit with a third carseta in any sedan. The Accord is a mid-size. I looked into it for a car rental since renting a van was so much more expensive, but we just couldn't do it. I'm not sure how much skiiny a radian is over the roundabout. I think you'll need at least an extra couple of inches per carseat beyond it's width specification to fit in the back seat comfortably. You can look up your backseat specs for hip room and see if the numbers work at all.
If you do end up with a minivan, they have lots of great features now
I've driven two new ones and I loved them both. I have an older one where the cargo space is tiny, but the newer models have lots more. I don't blame you for not wanting a car payment though. It is so nice not to deal with one.
TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!
Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!
They have CPSTs there to answer your questions too!
I have a GMC Yukon which is the same as Fords expedition and YES you can do 3 across the second row. It's great and there is extra room!
My sister has a Honda Odyssey and I love it. That is what I'd like to get if we have to get a "new" car. DH keeps pushing a Suburban. I literally want to cry because I don't want to drive a bus.
My other concern even if we can fit 3 seats in the back of the Accord is, we would have NO trunk space for all our stuff (a double stroller would take up pretty much the whole trunk) if we ever vacation anywhere and we'd never be able to take the dog.
I drive a 2007 sentra and after a TON of research I found that to make the 55" of hip room work, we had to go to a booster for my son. Thankfully he's a very tall kid And had already reached the height and weight limit for one well before the twins were here. Don't know if your daughter will be there by the time you reach your DD? We have two Chico key fit 30 which I love and an evenflo amp high back booster. It all fits with room to spare. My son also loved getting a new seat when the babies got theirs. It all works for now but I will say you can't get much else in with you. The trunk is mostly consumed by the stroller and the extra large diaper bag is crammed in behind my seat. Theres no way we could do even a short road trip, go to the beach, etc etc. I paid off my car a year ago so it's a bummer thinking of getting another car but when the twins are ready to graduate out of the infant seats we won't have a choice! When that day comes, I think the booster will be living in day's ride for daily school commutes and my sons old symphony 65 will go in the family wagon.
