Trying to Get Pregnant

Pregnitude?

Has anyone heard of or tried this? It's a dietary supplement with folic acid and myo-inositol. The website says it "supports ovulatory functioin, menstrual cyclicity and quality of eggs."

How I heard about it: At my last yearly appt, I told my doctor I was going to try to get pregnant this year, and I'm a teacher, so I really want an April baby and what can I do ahead of time to make sure I get pregnant in one try. Obviously, I knew it was a little ridiculous, but my doc is a pretty cool guy, so I was half kidding, but secretly really wanted to know what he would say. He laughed out loud, and told me I was being ridiculous. But then he left and came back with a sample of this stuff and said "It's just like a vitamin supplement, so it can't hurt if you want to give it a shot"

I looked for it online but couldn't find much info about it except for the reviews on Amazon. Most of the women there were had PCOS and said it helped them. I have been taking it for a couple of months and even if I get KU soon, I'll never really know whether it helped or not. I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything about it before I buy another month's worth. (It's about $40 for a month on Amazon)

Its over the counter and I got a 2mth supply at Publix for $30. My Dr. told me the same thing about the cycles, eggs, etc. so I figure I'd give it a try.

Save your money and get a daily PNV.

Or you can get the ingredients separately cheaper (or so I've heard).

I have been using it in addition to a daily PNV. I'm sure you're right about being able to get them cheaper. I kind of feel like I get plenty of folic acid in my PNV, and I really don't know what myo-inositol is, or if I should bother getting in seperately... maybe I should do some more research. I'll probably just use up what I have and not buy it a second time.

  • I take d-chiro inositol which is a variation of the myo-inositol. I got pregnant on the first try with my first baby. The second time around we kept missing the window of ovulation but the first time we got it I got pregnant again, however, I m/c'd that one. We are now again ttc (we missed the window last month so I'm finally temping this month) and hoping it takes only a few cycles at worst before I get pregnant again. I don't really know how much the dci helped but I'm not about to risk finding out by not taking it anymore. I do have PCOS.

Good luck, I hope you get your April baby. :)

Thanks for your input! I'm so torn between the angel on one shoulder saying "it'll be worth it if it works!" And the one on the other shoulder saying "you're wasting your money, stupid!" Maybe I'll look for a less expensive version of the supplement.
  • The success stories are there so I think it's a good product. However, I don't know how much more help it would be to someone without PCOS. If you really want to get pregnant in one try (or at least up your chances), I would seriously consider using it.
