XP: devastating news at a/s

My Ob just called me with the results of our a/s. I posted Monday they just took photos and sent them on to radiologist. Apparently the baby has a problem with his spine, spina bifida. All the other tests, nt scan and maternit21 were fine. Dr is surprised. She booked us with a specialist tomorrow morning. I'm so scared. 

The Dr said everything else looked good.She said it was a good sign he was moving around so much. 

I started to google.  we dont know the extent of his issues so I dont want to get too scared. 

Please send me any good thoughts and prayers. I'm devastated. I cant lose my baby. I just want him to be able to have a normal healthy life.

I am so sorry you are going through this my sister has spina bifida that they missed in utero and then she had to have surgery when she was six months. She then had another surgery at 10. There is a wide range of bifida but it can be managed. Make sure you get an opinion from both a neurosurgeon and a orthopedic surgeon before moving forward with anything after birth. Good luck

I am so sorry that you are going through this.  I know exactly how scarey it is to find out that there is something wrong with the baby.  But do not listen to other people on the internet and do not google too much (I know that it is hard).  Just talk to the dr and see what they say.  And that the baby is moving around is a really good sign.  Hang on to that.  My dr. keeps telling me that it is hard to diagnose a baby in utero and that they have to tell you the worst and put a plan in place for that.  I will keep you in my prayers.

I am so sad, this has not been the day for good news.  I found out a dear friend's IVF#2 didn't work and they are essentially out of money.  And now your heartbreaking news not that either can compare to the other.  

I am so very sorry and can not imagine what you are feeling or thinking.  I would say to try and focus on the positive side that the baby was very active and take luvboston's advice to heart too.  From what I understand about it there is a wide range of how it can affect life.  

I hope for the best for your baby.
