Induction at 32 weeks

Hey everyone!

I am just in need of some support...I am going to be induced soon at 32 weeks pregnant due to high blood pressure (which i had before i got pregnant). The docs are trying to keep my little guy in as long as possible but they are thinking of starting the induction tomorrow or Friday.  I guess I'm just looking for other peoples experiences with preemies born at 32 weeks so I can prepare myself a little bit better!!!

Thanks :)

Yes I'm supposed to go for a tour sometime this evening! I've met with all the specialists and have a great team of doctors this far!! Baby is excellent its me that they're most concerned about now I guess.  He weighs about 3.9lbs right now and he is practice breathing in there and moving all around.  I have had my two steroid shots so hopefully those will help him out!!! I'm on bedrest in the hospital obviously now and have been for almost a week!!

My DS was born at 31 weeks 4 days.  We were in the NICU for 25 days.  I also received the steroid shots and think that helped a lot.  He was only on room air for a couple days.  He was under the bili-lights for a while longer.  Like other people said- all babies are different but 32 weekers usually do really well.   I'm glad you got to tour the NICU- I never was able to and I think that would have helped.  I'll be thinking of you and your lo.  Keep us posted!

Dd was born at 32 wks due to me developing hellp syndrome. We spent 2 months in the nicu. Our biggest hurdles were her desats and bradys. She coded on us twice seemingly out of the blue, she had one day left on her going home countdown both times. They attributed the episodes to her gerd. We avoided surgery fortunately, but it was a discussion that was brought to the table by her drs. She had jaundice like pps, and was under the lights for a long while. We werent able to start oral feeds until she was about 5 wks old, but she did pretty well with them. She's now a healthy 1 yo aside from an asd, which they believe is genetic since everyone almost in bith mine and dhs familys had it. Its not causing her any issues, just has to be watched to make sure it closes on its own. I hope your lo has a short, uneventful nicu stay.

I'm sorry that you are dealing with this. Just keep reminding yourself that he is better out than in. A positive attitude will help you get through this tough time. Your baby is in good hands!

I had a 32 weeker - spontaneous pre-term labor. I only got one steroid shot 2 hours before he was born, and he was amazingly healthy. He was on a CPap with room air for less than 24 hours and never had any lung issues. He was in the NICU for 24 days learning how to eat. I'll be thinking about you and baby. Please update when you can!
