FTM question

Sorry if its a dumb one but does LO move around still during labor and contractions? I know they're supposed to move less the further along you are cause they're out of room but at almost 37 weeks my little guy is still moving a ton and playing alien and was just curious if he'd bring doing so throughout labor. I have been getting BH but its usually when he's calmer so he doesn't really move much or will try and stretch a little but not his huge movements. Just wondering if that's what should expect

Re: FTM question

  • I just started with contractions this week and LO moves around the whole time. From my research, it's possible for them to move during contractions/labor.

  • Yes baby can still be active during contractions. I doubt you are going to notice much due to pain levels or epidural but they do move. I never noticed it, but I could hear movements on the monitor they put on your stomach.

  • I just came from my 4th nst. I'm 37 weeks and she was moving a lot and the nurse said I was having contractions but I didn't feel them. I wondered the same thing but I'm guessing the answer is yes haha.
  • Honestly, I was so in the moment of the contractions and trying to focus that I don't remember feeling DD moving around at all. There was just too much going on to remember
  • Yes they do. My daughter gave a few last good kicks before I pushed her out. Kind of weird

  • Yes, but likely not the same kind of movements you feel other times. Babies (so they say) will often push off with their feet--like they're try to help the process. Also, depending on what position baby is in, they may twist. It's like nature is working to get them to help the process. I don't recall feeling LO move (had a med-free labor and delivery) but from my reading I'd expected DD to push off with her feet, so I don't think it would have seemed noteworthy to me if it had happened since I expected it.

  • Throughout the hours of contractions I had the other day, lo was moving a whole lot, lol. The nurses who monitored me were actually surprised by how active and happy he seemed to be and kept mentioning it to us. I'm also a ftm.

This. I'm sure DD was moving when I was in labor, but I didn't even notice.
