Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Mesh feeders

I can't remember at what age I gave my son the mesh feeders with fruit in them...but I remember he loved them!  If you started already, when did you do it?  We started solids at 6 months, so less than a month ago, but I would think they're safe enough to start anytime now, right?

We started using it around 5 months.  LO loves eating fruit from it.  I think you are good to go because the LO is just sucking juice, they aren't eating anything.

  • We started around five months with frozen breast milk. It feels good on his gums and I'm giving him some extra nutrition.

  • We tried at 6 months, but she wasn't interested in holding it herself.  I tried again at 7 months and it went much better.  Now at 9 months, I give her a mesh feeder with frozen fruit almost every afternoon, I call it a Popsicle.

  • I get cubed frozen mango pieces and put them in. He loves it! I also froze bananas in it which was great for his first round of teething. Watermelon is fun too - but very messy!

  • My dd loves watermelon in them she sucks it til it's a tiny piece. It is a little messy but nothing a bib can't handle. We have been using them for about two weeks now.

  • Our daughter is 6 1/2 months old and so far all we've tried is banana which she loves.  I do have a question for those who do the frozen foods, do you boil or steam them first?  I have freshly picked peaches which I plan to bake and then puree but I want to freeze a few slices first for her mesh feeder.  So should I bake, slice and freeze those peaches or is it safe for her to just each frozen slices that weren't baked or steamed?

  • I waited until DS stated solids at 6 months. He isn't interested in pureed foods at all, but I put some food in the mesh feeders and he's all over it! He's tried pretty much everything - raw fruit, cereals, meat. They're great!
