Food Allergy

Traveling

Usually with family holidays/get togethers/etc--I always bring something safe for my daughter to have OR bring a safe dessert for everyone. We live fairly close to family so this is a non-issue.

In August we are going to a Baby Naming--but we will be traveling from Fri-Monday, staying in a hotel. We already have restaurants mapped out so that is non-issue, but I am nervous about the baby naming because we won't be able to really bring/make safe food for her--since we will be staying in a hotel with less resources (i.e. kitchen) then we are used to.

Any ideas?

We are getting her retested BEFORE the trip so I am really hoping that she outgrew some of her allergies, but I doubt it.

Is there maybe a grocery store close to where the hotel/baby naming party is? Would you be able to stop by the morning of the party and pick up some fresh foods that she can have? If you were able to bring a little cooler/knives whatever supplies with to take what you get and "prepare" it so you are 100% confident in her food.

Other than that I don't have a lot of suggestions. We have had to have our LO exists on "snack" foods for a day due to travel and unrealible food. Not the greatest option or well balanced but it was either that or put her at risk (which is so not worth it when away from home).

    Good luck!

At family events like Christmas, etc where I knew most of the food would be unsafe, I just pack a lunch. DD would sit at the table and eat the lunch I packed for her while everyone else was eating. Better safe than sorry! It was never anything fancy, green beans, black beans, turkey, hummus, things I knew DD would eat.

That is what we do as well many times, but Christmas/Thanksgiving etc aren't too far away and we can make her food at home and bring it. With this we will be in a hotel for a day before, so I just can't make her lunch as much as I would want too. I may pick her up a bagel in the AM and just call it a day. LOL.

What are her allergies? Maybe we can help you think of some shelf-safe food to bring. Or, can you bring a small ice chest to store safe foods? I wonder if you told the hotel you had a member in your party with a FA if they could provide you with a small fridge or bump you up to a suite where you would have one?

  • Peanut, egg, sesame and almonds.

She gets rechecked right before, I am hoping that none get added.
