Re: bumGenius Econobum Diapers

  • I've used the Econobum cover so I will speak to that. I LOVE it! I don't know why. It's not very pretty and it's not very trim. But it's so comfy, soft, and never leaves red marks. I've also never had leaks with that cover, even when I thought I would. It's a very generously sized cover which for my 20# 4 month old is nice as he's on the last rise already in all his other OS diapers. It most definitely will not fit a newborn if that's what you're looking for. As for the prefolds, I've never used them, but I've *heard* that they are very absorbent but very big and bulky. I might try these as my LO gets bigger. Hope that helps some?
  • Hmmm...well, the prefolds are very absorbent, so that's good. And like PP said, no leaks, so that's good...I just didn't like them much. The cover feels very cheap to me and I'm not confident that it would last through a child's diapering days, and you can't snappi the prefolds. They were designed to be trifolded, which is great if you're into that, but it's just not my thing at all. I much prefer to snappi. I like the prefolds as inserts in my pockets, though!

  • They are okay.

They will definitely not fit a newborn. The cover started fitting DD at 8 weeks and I used it over infant prefolds because the econobum prefold is just odd. Absorbent, but odd.

I loved the cover until recently. I needed to replace the leg elastic (something I've done on numerous diapers) and the foldover casing for it did not survive the task. So now I am down a cover and would only recommend them if you don't pay full price.
