Working Moms

Introduction: went back to work today!

FTM mom here to my darling LO, who is 15+ weeks old.  I went back to work today after 3.5 months  at home (after 2 weeks of bed-rest).  I cherish the time I had at home with my little guy, but I was ready to go back and had a wonderful day -- complete with lots of nice smiles and giggles when I got home!

DH and I have LO in a daycare center close to the home.  I will probably do most of the drop offs and DH most of the pickups, due to where we both work.

Anybody got any tips for me for how to "make it all work?"  Today was awesome - I was over-planned, so healthy dinner got made, dishwasher is running, etc... not sure how realistic or sustainable that. :-)

  • I went back last week, so far what I have been doing is getting as much possible done the night before. My after work schedule looks like this:

4:30: pick up baby, go home and make dinner (hopefully partially prepped night before), DH feeds baby solids, we eat dinner, play with baby, breastfeed baby, baby goes to bed at 7, I make lunches for next day, clean/sterilize/pack pump equipment, chores, free time, 10: I go to bed.

  • I find that getting everything done the night before makes me day a lot easier. I shower, bathe the baby, pack bottles, makes lunches, lay out my clothes and DD's clothes all the night before. It makes it easier on both DH and me to have most everything ready at night.

Sometimes we still have to order a pizza for dinner or grab coffee at work though. You can't always get it all done.

  • Welcome! There was a post the other day about managing with two. You only have one, but the ideas/advice are still helpful! :)

Plan ahead and don't sweat the small stuff. :)
