3rd Trimester

Early dropping?

This is my third baby. I'm 29 weeks along.

Suddenly I feel like my baby has 'dropped' lots of pressure in my lower belly and on my bladder, 'lightning crotch' and lower back pain that feels different than what I've had up until now...I feel 'bottomheavy'. I also have no reflux/indigestion, which I've really suffered from in the last few weeks.

Anyone else have this? I didn't have this feeling in either of my first two pregnancies this early. Is it anything to be concerned about?

Luckily, my regular obgyn appointment is scheduled for Wednesday, so I can ask my doctor soon. Just wondering about others' experiences.

Re: Early dropping?

  • He'll probably bounce up and down. That's what my little girl did. She seems pretty settled now though.

  • Not that it is really indicative of anything but LO dropped a few weeks ago. It is possible for them to change positions multiple times before delivery so I wouldn't invest too much thought of him/her dropping.

  • Ok, thanks. You think you know what's going on when you've already had a few kids... But apparently not! Each pregnancy has been so different!

    Unfortunately, I had a few preterm labor scares with my second, so Im over nervous about anything that feels strange or different this time around...

  • She goes up and down. No worries.

  • I for sure thought I was carrying LO low. I had so much pressure and pain and I finally asked my OB at 36 weeks (when she did my internal) if he was low. She said no, he was pretty high, but I was feeling like he could have been low because it was my third pregnancy that everything was "looser and stretched out." Kinda like your ute was just hanging there. That's what it felt like for me. He didn't drop until I went into labor, just like DS2.

    DS1 I dropped at 7 months. My OB did tell me that typically FTM drop early on, and that pregnancies after, babies tend to drop much later, or while your in active labor- which in my case was true.

  • Our LO dropped two nights ago. I'm 34 weeks. I went into labor, but luckily it stopped on it's own and I only got to 1 cm. We plan to keep her in for a couple more weeks :)

    With my last pregnancy, she went up and down (like PP's said). But yes- it hurts!

    So I get to add 'saggy ute' to the list of body oddities in accruing with each pregnancy? Yay. ;
