MIL judgements

Normally the MIL is more or less OK, but we did lunch yesterday for DH's bday and she got under my skin waaaaay more than normal after only 2 hours (as I point to my hormone inducing ticker below...)

Judgement #1 - my MIL literally ate the exact same amount of food for lunch that my 18 month old did: 1 piece of french toast. I judge that. Im pretty sure you need more than my son does to function (especially since you were "starving" when we sat down). ::gives side eye::

Judgement #2 - you complained to me for 10 mins how your back hurt from playing cards last week. Why the eff would you think it would be a good idea to take your 4 grandkids, all under 7, to Disney World for a week?! (as your husband complains about his foot hurting after walking 2 blocks to lunch) You realize Disney World = hours of walking, in the heat, with lines to wait on. Im pretty sure you cant rent golf carts...I judge your non grasp of reality/your abilities/mobility

Judgement #3 - 5 mins after we tell you we are pg with #2 why are you going on and on AND ON about your make-up artists daughter who is pregnant with #1? Umm, thats wonderful that she is expecting and due a month before me, but I dont really care about the tests this person I never met is having during her pregnancy. I judge you thinking you are "in the know" by being told stories 2nd  hand.

Yay, Monday and hormones!

I can't give her #2 because I have back problems too.  Two things about it:

1- one day it might hurt like a b1tch, then it'll be fine for days, weeks, or even months.

2- walking actually helps make it feel better.  Sitting still is the worst thing for it.

Granted, this depends on what exacxtly is causing her pain.  But her back hurting after sitting for a long time isn't a reason to NOT go to Disney and walk!

  • No one is a biitch, no worries. Sorry gals, obviously my judgements were based on stuff I know about MIL, which none of you would know of course.

Apologies if I offended anyone with my vents. ECB, I hope your back stays nice and healthy for you!

  • I'll waffle on number 1.. multiple reasons not to give you this one.. Easiest? One piece of french toast, made at home has about 150 calories. Add in butter and syrup, and you're looking at 300-400 calories. Do this in a restaurant, and you're probably closer to 700 calories. Even at 400 calories, that's more than enough for breakfast. Portion sizes are so distorted that most people don't realize what really is enough food. Other reason? It's her appetite and her body. Let the woman eat what she wants.

And completely opposite of my original statement.. UGH INLAWS. I judge my inlaws in the opposite way.. My FIL puts an entire packet of jelly on EVERY.SINGLE.BITE.OF.TOAST. Seriously.. SIX packets of jelly for ONE piece of toast. And a half stick of butter is never enough for them when we have four people eating dinner. When someone already annoys you to start with, every little thing they do will drive you nuts!

  • I really don't like one of my MILs (DH was adopted by his stepmom, who is awesome, but I can't stand his bio mom). You would think we get along fine watching us talk to one another, but in reality every single thing she does gets under my skin, legitimate or not. I just suck it up as best I can b/c DH loves her for reasons I think only a trained professional psychiatrist could understand.

By the way, you actually CAN rent scooters for WDW, which is what my mom always does. You can either rent them daily at the park, or there are companies that will deliver them to your hotel room and then pick them up from you at the end of your trip. Same thing with strollers.

I would judge the fact that your MIL has a make up artist?! Really?! A make up artist?! Is your MIL a celebrity? :-)

LOL!  The only thing in the entire post I side-eyed was the make up artist.  I had one too....for my wedding.  But that's it!

People complain on these boards about their MIL's more than anything else, I swear. I think you must be hormonal because none of these things should be annoying and if they are, you really need to relax! Who cares what someone else eats or how muchnbsp;and people love to pretend they are "in the know" so just accept that and move on. TBnbsp;is a good place to vent though and you are entitled to your days where everything bugs you!

Maybe I have the wrong person in mind, but I feel like you respond to every vent posted in TB with an argumentative reply. Everyone should just do whatever their MIL wants because they are lucky their MIL likes their kids...

I can't even imagine why this would bother someone. If anything, I'd think it was quirky but then move on. Why waste your time on this?

If I could control what bothered me, life would be amazing. Fully acknowledge it's not productive, but it's still gross to me.
