My FIL passed away on Friday

He was rushed to the hospital on Thurs at midnight with severe stomach pains. He had a hernia. Both his hernia and bowel had perforated and when they opened him up they had to remove half a foot of intestine bc it was dead. He was put into a medically induced coma and his blood pressure and heart were just not stabilizing. MH signed for them to give him blood in hope that would bring up the bp, but it didn't work. That night his heart started to go and they did paddle him overnight. He coded again right in front of us fri am and MH said to save him (in hopes his brother would get back there in time). They did bedside surgery and this time a lot of his organs were dead already and they said we didn't have to make the decision bc his heart, even on the machines was stopping. With all of us by his side he passed on Fri. He was larger then life and just an amazing man. I have no idea how we are going to live with out him. My son, Brayden is completely heartbroken at the age of 6. We are completely shocked by all this. We are prepared for my dad to pass as he is terminally ill with stage 4 cancer, but not my fil. The fact that we will have to tell my son again soon that his other grandfather is gone is just awful. If you could keep my family in your T&P that would be very much appreciated. The services are tomorrow and mh is just walking around in a daze.

I'm so sorry to hear this hun! I lost my dad very suddenly in December, so I understand every word you just wrote. It is so utterly shocking that you have no earthly idea how you can even go on.
And it's amazing how much kids can understand and are affected by what's going on. Carter was SO CLOSE to my dad. He saw him everyday, all day, b/c DH and I work full time and my kids go to my parents house during the day. The death of my father has deeply affected him and it breaks my heart into pieces.
And, while I know it's not the same thing, my dog died a week after my dad and that sent Carter over the edge... he got to a point that he didn't want DH and I to leave him because he thought, once we said goodbye, that he'd never see us again. I mean REALLY!?! I cry just thinking about it.

Jenni-poor Carter. Brayden didn't want to go to camp today and I think that may be why. He has been very quiet since we told him Fri night.
