Parenting after a Loss

Update on DD: Poooooooo, river....

So that's a song, sort of.

DD has gone every day since Saturday and while it's been a soupy mess, I'm happy. She's been subsisting exclusively on prunes, pears, peaches, pineapple, beans, and Cheerios, and I'm going to be really careful about introducing things back into her diet going forward (and am going to avoid white flour anything and dairy). I'm planning to stop giving her Miralax on Wednesday (7 days is the treatment approved by the FDA for adults), and try and only use it as a last resort. If she gets stopped up again, I won't hesitate, I'd just really like to try and see if I can correct this with her diet. I was offering pears everyday but also pretty much letting her eat a little bit of whatever we were eating, and it may be that she's too sensitive for that.

Thanks so much for the support during my freaking out, and for sharing your experiences!!

  • Poor baby, I'm glad she got some relief now.  It sounds like you have a great plan ready.  I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that you find the right combination of foods to keep her regular.

Lol, I TOTALLY sang that in the tune of the song.

I'm so glad she's going! I never thought I'd get so excited about poop in my life. Welcome to motherhood guess Smile

Bwahahaha! I sang it, too! What does it say about us that we all get so worked up over poop?!?!

SO glad  E has cleaned herself out, so to speak! Here's hoping she stays regular from now on!

  • Poo is the one topic of conversation that comes up more for mamas than it does for eight year old boys. WHICH IS SAYING SOMETHING.

Lol Eh...don't be so sure. DS is 9, and regularly discusses his poop. Like to the extent of "Dad! You have GOT to come see this!"
Seriously though, yay for Lady E!! I know you are relieved!! Here's to regular, pain free pooping from here in out!

Ha ha ha! So glad your DD is feeling better! I get so freakin excited when my DD poops. The more the better as well, that tells me she's eating enough!
