Hi ladies,
I am getting ready to take DD to the beach for a week. Typically, it takes about eight hours in the car, but with DD I don't know what to expect. We are leaving as soon as she wakes up and plan to drive all day. This will be the first time we have traveled with her, and I'm so nervous I almost cancelled several times. She had severe sleep problems until we Ferberized her. Now, she sleeps well for the most part, but we do keep her on a strict schedule. Any ladies who have traveled with LO please share your best travel tips please. Also, our location is a hour behind, should I use that time or stick to our home time?
And more thing....anyone have a favorite sunscreen for sensitive skin? DD has a hard time tolerating sunscreen and she has extremely fair skin.
Thanks Ladies!
Re: Travel Tips Please
He napped a lot more on our week long vacation. Lots of stimulation all week. The week after we got home he quit sleeping through the night, but he's back to normal now.
Good luck and have fun!
Also, while my son was awake, I rode in the back with him to keep him entertained. If you BF, pump and make bottles so you don't have to stop to nurse. I also pumped in the car.
We just made a 9 hour road trip to the beach last week! A few suggestions:
If your LO uses a sound machine at home for sleep, bring it in the car with batteries and when it is nap time, turn it on. (This was a MAJOR help for my LO)
BE SURE to take a pump with you if you BF. My LO doesn't take bottles or anything (exclusive bewb boy), but he was so not interested in nursing during the actual traveling that by the time we arrived at the condo, I was engorged and ended up with clogged ducts for a couple of days because I didn't even think to bring my pump!
Take the sheets from your LO's crib that they have slept on for a night or two before leaving and use them in the pack n play (or whatever your LO will be sleeping in).
Bring a few new toys that your LO has never played with so it will keep their interest for longer. And definitely have someone sit back there with them!
Have fun and don't stress too much! I was almost physically sick because I worried so much before my trip but he did great and so will yours!!
