creepy things happening around here...

Dude, weird things have been happening around our place lately.  We have an alarm system and every time an exterior window or door opens, the alarm chimes.  I am on nights, so I sleep during the days on my work days and several times the chimes have gone off.  I have checked all the doors, they are secure.

Tonight, it's pouring down rain, our front yard is pretty flooded and we are all sitting in the living room watching a movie.  The door bell goes off several times in a row.  DH went to answer the door, he seriously made it there in like less than 10 seconds - no one is there.  I get kids play jokes, but it's like pouring outside, so I don't really see any kids playing or going through the trouble of swimming through the front yard to ring the door bell.

Anyways...it just creeps me out in general.  There's more things that have happened, but these are the two that have happened recently.  Anyone ever had weird things happen at your house?

  • You probably have a bad alarm sensor that needs replaced. The doorbell could go off from moisture in the button or a problem with a wire. If it's a wireless door, you may have interference with the signal.

yeah, I'd assume electrical problems first.

When Ds was just a few weeks old, Dh and I were up til 2am with a screaming baby. Ds finally fell asleep so I put him in the pack n play next to my side of the bed and laid down, completely exhausted. I slept with a night light on so I could see him to BF, so the room was lit. I looked up at the ceiling and floating above our bed was this smokey, dark, organic looking blob. I said to Dh, "What the f'uck is THAT?!" He rolled over, looked up at the ceiling, and said "what? That black thing floating above us?? I dunno.." And rolled over!! Indifferent He fell instantly asleep. I tried to wake him back up, but was too afraid to take my eyes off it. I stared at it until it dissolved into the ceiling, but was so exhausted I could barely keep my eyes open. I'll add that we have a ceiling fan and the smokey blob was suspended between the blades and the ceiling, so it wasn't a shadow or anything. Plus, it was moving/churning like smoke in a bottle would.

We joke that our ghost thought Ds was special enough to visit, but not Dd bc I never saw anything like that again.  I don't know if it was a ghost or whatever, but I cannot explain it. It's crazy that Dh saw what I was seeing too.

My sister and Bil refuse to sleep over bc they've had their own episodes here, but I'm not certain I can't rule out other explanations.

  • Kind of along the same lines as PP.  Things I know I put up, left out.  Or things out of place.  I always leave my keys on a hook by the garage door.  It's like the first thing I do when I come in.  I've found them on a self, near the hook, but I would never put them there and neither would DH.  I know the electrical stuff may have an explanation, but the other things there really isn't.  There have been lights on when we get home, that I knew we turned off.  The TV has been on a few times when we got home also.  I'm not necessarily saying the house is haunted or anything... I really don't know what exactly I am saying.  It's just creepy.

  • Ugh, I wrote about this before, but our overhead light randomly comes on in our master bedroom, like in the middle of the night sometimes. Or the fan will suddenly go to full speed on its own. Google and someone on this board told us it's likely a frequency issue because its a fan/light combo that uses a remote. But I'm still scared.

And last night I swear I felt pressure next to me in bed, like someone was sitting there, but I was waking up for a dream so I couldn't tell if I imagined it. I am FREAKING myself out.

  • Recently things like this have been messing with my head too.  Today I got home and a picture frame that definitely is always hung vertically (a picture of me kissing DS as a newborn) was hung horizontally.  Sometimes I will come home after just cleaning the house and a cabinet door will be open or throw pillows on the floor.
  • In my parents house (where I grew up) the wall at the end of the hall way is a mirror. I used to always hear tapping coming from behind it. Also, my Dad is a musician and has many different string instruments in the basement of the house. I would often hear the instruments playing when no one else was home but me. When I'd open the door to the basement, they would stop.

There was more than one time that I saw figures of people in the house. One morning, I woke up to my comforter on my bed completely soaking wet. It was as if it had been out in a heavy rain storm and then thrown over me on my bed.

  • The doorbell would really freak me out, even if it were a malfunction. I have a way too over active imagination.

Um, I've seen the same thing. Only once also. It was years ago, when I was probably in high school. So freakin creepy.

  • Those would creep me out as well.

A few weeks ago I was laying in bed mostly asleep when I heard a male voice whisper in my ear "Boo."

It jolted me fully awake. It wasn't DH because he was still in the living room.

I know most people don't believe but I have experienced/seen several things in this house that creep me out. I really just try to block it all out. So not interested in contact!

When we got our beagle he had bad cage anxiety so we set up a camera to watch him and see how long he would bark. We also have the chime on our alarm system. Well, the camera filmed him for 45 minutes. Then we heard them chime go off like the front door opened but we had set the alarm and it didn't go off. Then we could hear foot steps going down the steps at which point our dog stops barking and looks in the direction of the stairs. We could then hear a sigh into the camera and it just goes dead. It had a full battery that morning and could film at least an hour worth of video. It was creepy.

Holy shiit, that gave me goosebumps!

And, Klondike, we have an old rocking chair in our bedroom, and I'm so scared to wake up to it rocking on its own.

  • The rocking chair gave me a fabulous idea. I am going to find an old one at a grage sale and fix it up for TOT this fall. I know I can rig it to make it rock on its own. I might throw a creepy doll into the mix too. I get so much joy out of scaring older TOTers. Don't think I'm a jerk. My fondest TOT memories from childhood involve the houses where I was scared out of mind.

I told my dad about it to gauge his reaction bc he's a scientist and always has an answer for things like that. He gave me a couple explanations about the ceiling fan malfunctioning. I told him that the fan wasn't even on. He looked at me like this Indifferent and said, well, I can't help ya then. Not helping dad. Not helping!

  • For the past few months I've been seeing things out of the corner of my eye. When I look again, they are gone. Today it was a person at my house, yesterday I swore it was a dog when I was berry picking in a meadow. Its creepy.
