I had an unplanned C-section after I already got an epidural. This time, it's going to be scheduled. Is a spinal given the same way as an epi, with a shot in the back?
Yes and no. A spinal will still be a ''shot in the back'' but unlike the epidural it's a one-and-done deal. Meaning as soon as the shot is administered you'll need to lay down and within a couple minutes you'll be numb from tits to toes. A spinal will not have a catheter, nor a continuous drip.
"What are you having?" "Well the radiologist says its a healthy little human baby. I'm a little disappointed, because I really wanted a puppy." LOL

The spinal will also wear off more quickly, which is nice so you can start moving around!

Carson Henry, born 39w, 2d, via emergency c/s due to no fetal movement and fetal distress. Seizures, IVH grade 2, brain injury, kidney and liver damage. Complete blood clot in the artery in his right arm. 27 days in the NICU. Now discharged from all specialists, excepts his kidney doctor, who will monitor him indefinitely. My tough little cookie.
I had a spinal my friend who works in the ER said they are much better than the epi's. I did get sick from it but they said this time around for my repeat to tell them and they will change some things in the mixture
I had an epidural and failure to descend which led to a c-section. For some reason my Epi didn't work on my left side. The spinal was inserted through the same catheter and was sweet relief pretty quickly. I felt really cold and a bit shaky though, so I asked to have warm blankets on my arms during the c-section which helped a lot.
Re: Spinal question
Everytime I see tits to toes I giggle
