Cloth Diapering

Yeast

So I posted a week or two ago about being a new CDer and DD developing a rash/poss sensitivity to Tide. Turns out it was a yeast rash. I am using diapers from a diaper trial program. The rash appeared within 24 hours of starting CDs so I am convinced the yeast was already in them since they were used.

Regardless, it is an issue now. We cleared the rash on her and I have started treating the diapers but not sure if I did enough. I used a hot wash and rinse with oxyclean - 1st line - then  cold rinsed thoroughly and sunned them. Do I need to do more or should I just put them on her and see what happens? I am using BG and FB xs with a few prefolds here and there.

Re: Yeast

  • I would wash with tea tree oil and grapefruit seed extract for the next several washes and continue sunning.
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!

We had thrush and a yeast rash a few weeks ago - I definitely caught the rash VERY early.  We did a hot wash with 1/2 C of bleach.  Then a few extra rinses at the end to make sure the bleach was out.  And I washed EVERY diaper/cover/insert/wetbag/washcloth we could have possibly used when the yeast was there (probably did 3 or 4 loads of clean diapers).  We used 15 drops of GSE during the last rinse cycle for 2 weeks after the rash was gone - so far so good, no more signs of yeast.  I bought tea tree oil just in case nothing else was working, but honestly never opened the bottle!

  • sounds like I've got some work ahead of me.

    Thanks!
