Re: FFFC

  • My FFFC. If we don't rent/buy a bigger place soon, DH and I are either going to kill one another or get divorced. True story.

I am irrationally excited that I can FINALLY see s12. It's been down for me since the changeover/changeback.

My kid probably likes tv too much.

I totally make up nicknames and back stories for the neighbors I don't know. My dad has done that my whole life and I think his dad did too. We like to spin a good yarn. The 6 year next door is quite likely to be an axe murderer one day.

    you've missed a lot...

I caught the major dramz via reposts (the other boards worked for some reason), but I feel so out of the loop right now.

I missed everything too. For some reason I couldn't get on TB at all yesterday and a good part of Wednesday. I definitely feel lost.

My FFFC: C woke up really early the other morning, super fussy, and I got really frustrated. I slammed my hand down on the rocker arm rest, hit something hard, and now it is bruised. I am really embarrassed about my behavior so I decided to take some time for my self and went to yoga. It helped immensely.

I have been struggling with work/home balance and just feel out of sorts.

  • Here's my other one. I was really annoyed when I found out the other day that my silver status would be gone. Stupid, I know, but for some reason, the medal colors on TB are significantly important to me. Again, stupid, I know!

Not stupid, I think that was a common irritation.

ETA: I know it doesn't get me anything but I was excited to get to 4,000 posts and that went away.  I was sad. :(

A friend's daughter was going to watch DD while I took care of some longoverdue dentist and eye doc appointments. nbsp; She dislocated her shoulder and can't.FFFC: My first thought was not "Aw, I hope she's ok!" but "Ah, sh!t, and I don't have anyone else to call shortnotice." nbsp;I am such a b!tch. And also incredibly shocked at how much I was looking forward to the dentist if it meant babyfree time and getting something knocked off my todo list.
I'm far too excited about the gyno appt I have next week. Here's hoping there's a long wait!

Am I the only one who has to bring her kid everywhere? haha.

I bring E everywhere. Since I usually schedule my Dr. appt's on my days off, I'm home with E and end up bringing me. I've brought him to my PCP appt's twice now. I think my Dr. is starting to get annoyed with me for doing it. He's always good and the nurses love him, but she doesn't particularly care for  him, I think. There might be a reason she's internal medicine and not pedi !

It doesn't make it baby free or easier, but can you take dd with you instead of canceling? My dentist's receptionists love babies and enjoyed watching her. She asked me to bring her the next time, so she could watch her again and play with her.

How does this even work?  I'm not trying to be snarky--how the heck can you get your teeth cleaned or do a vision exam while keeping your child from running amok in the office? A doc's appointment where you're mostly just talking and maybe getting BP done or even a blood draw, I get, but not something that's requiring you to, you know, sit still for longer than a minute.

Are your babies really that well-behaved, or are expecting the nurses/staff to help, or just put up with it?  (And if it's the first one, jealous mama here, and if it's the second or third, ok, yeah, I'll own that I'll snark that.)

  • I allowed dd to fall off the bed twice this week. Ds helped her go the first time and I was within inches of catching her, so I feel slightly better about that one. The second time, she was nursing next to me on the bed, as usual, and she rolled over suddenly and fell. Had I not been checking my phone, I would have possibly stopped this from happening. She landed on soft stuff and isn't hurt, but I feel awful.

My kids go everywhere with me. When they are young they are contained to a carseat or stroller. I bring lots of small toys, sometimes snacks. Now they entertain each other. I have never relied on nurses or other staff to entertain my children, although sometimes they have nothing else to do and ask if they can play with them, which I obviously don't mind. Keagan came to every OBGYN apt with me when I was pregnant with Colby.  We would play I spy games while I couldn't be actively entertaining him.

I have so many appts right now and no daycare, so C frequently comes with me. I bring the stroller and for the most part he's in there.

This. He's either entertained with toys or sleeping in his stroller.

I've never asked a nurse or Dr to hold Ethan. One volunteered to once so I accepted her offer. Other than that, it's straight forward.

DH works in the evenings so I made sure to schedule my appt during naptime and when he would be home so he would be able to be here with her. Mommy needs a little break...even if it's just to go to the gyno!

I guess I'm just in shock, because there's no way my little tornado would accept being confined to a stroller or entertained by a few small toys for the duration of a doc's appointment!  Must really depend on the kid!

  • FFFC. My DH got us Lollapalooza in tickets for my bday. The show is in Chicago at the end of the month. He told me about a few weeks ago so that we can arrange for one set of grandparents to watch the boys. My confession is that I am only a teensy bit excited, even though The Killers, Mumford Sons, and The Lumineers are playing. I really like those bands, but I am a little overwhelmed at the thought of Lollapalooza in general. A whole weekend of loud music. It gives me slight anxiety and I am not sure why. My cousin's girlfriend was talking to us about mapping out a plan pf bands to see and how our plans will just get thrown out the window once we're there. ::Gulp...heart palpitations:: this is soooo out of my comfort zone.
Now if he would have said we are getting away for a weekend in downtown Chicago to do "Chicagoy" things, I'd be all about it.

Yay for Lolla and being in Chicago! Lolla can be overwhelming, but I think it is very possible to have a plan. Lots of my friends will prioritize the bands they want to see in ranking order. Go through the bands for a given day and rank them 1,2,3 and see what you can make and don't worry if you miss a lower ranking band...Most of all, have fun :)

I kind of wish my kid would be distracted by television. He woke up at midnight and 4:30 last night, for no reason, and then got up for the day at 5:30.

I'm exhausted, kind of sick, and he's raring to go. I wish I could turn on docmcstuffins and get a half hour to wake up.

James had zero interest until 2.5 :(

I totally posted and napped. The dentist's receptionists take turns playing with her. They only want them until they are walking and not so cuddly any more. They honestly have asked me to bring her.

  • I let a little spider live in my silverware drawer. I had 3 dinner parties and gave my guests silverware out of the drawer.

The toilet in my hotel room is so tall that it made my legs go numb after 49 seconds. Im trying to poop so I stacked 3 towels as a stool and I feel really smart now. It worked. You can't buy that kind of untelligence.

I want to have a drink in the bar downstairs but it's so busy. So I bought a pack of cigs and had one. I'm not sure what that solved.

She will not sit still for a second.  Literally.  My target trip this morning was cut drastically short because despite being buckled in, she was attempting to climb out of the cart every 2 minutes.

I feel ya.  I give her a cheese stick when I put her in a cart, she devours it but it keeps her distracted from trying to grad EVERYTHING for at least 1/2 the time. :)

These are favorites around in our house.

    image

if I can sense there might be an issue at the store, I'll normally just throw him in the carrier. (Bjorn - my high maintenance must be facing out and seeing ALL THE PEOPLE ALL THE TIME) At least then I can examine my toilet paper options without fearing my child will fall to his death from the cart.

if he's already in the cart, I've been known to zoom over and grab a bag of goldfish. I just keep popping them in his mouth as I shop. Works every time.

I can't wear and grocery shop... It's to intruding. :|

    Our coffee maker broke.

DH is the ultimate appliance/electronics researcher in house and he found a maker that he claims is fabulous (my words not his) for $260 dollars.

It's a lot of money for a coffee maker, but I said buy that thing. I'm sick of not having coffee around!

My FFFC, that doesn't seem outrageous to me. Embarrassed
