Method and age: Night weening at 10 months. I dropped an ounce every week until we were down to 2 ounces. Thats plenty to fall back asleep on but not enough to want to wake up for. I also upped the amount I offered at dinner.
How did it go? Eh, its still kinda all over the place, but he mostly sleeps through the night which is all I ask for
I recommend it if you arent in a hurry and not frustrated with waking up
Method: Ferber. Used because DD had a sleep association of being rocked to sleep and would wake about 6 times per night needing help getting back to sleep.
How did it go: Went very well. The first night she only cried for 15 minutes with a few checks from me. Then pretty much has STTN since we started. Naps are harder but its working for us and for her. She is putting herself back to sleep and starting off the night and nap putting herself to sleep.
Age: 5 and a half months
Recommend? I would if this is the kind of problem that you are having. And if you can handle listening to your child cry for a bit...I didn;t think I would be able to listen to her, but it came down to necessity for us. No one was sleeping well. But overall, this method worked very well for my family.
We are in the first week of sleep training my son. We are using the sleep sense program. My son is a week shy of 7 months. We never really had problems with him sleeping at night but he was used to being rocked and using a pacifier. He has also been a horrible napper (3 30 min. Naps a day). When he hit 6 months old the sleep problems began. It seemed to have started after his vaccinations along with getting his first tooth. He started having a hard time putting him to sleep at night, he would wake up multiple times a night and I had to replace his pacifier, he started needing a night feeding, and by the end of the night we were so exhausted that we would bring him to be with us to get a few uninterrupted hours of sleep.
We started the sleep sense program on Monday. All sleep props are taken away but you can be in the room with you child for support and you progressively move further away from the crib. The first night he cried for an hour before my husband got upset and took him out of the crib. We decided to follow the program exactly the following day and on. All night wake ups are gone and naps are lengthening. The first night is the hardest night but we were amazed at how fast it worked. I love her program because you get a book to download immediately, a workbook download to plan out your routines and plans, daily videos to watch for support, and a weekly hotline to call for questions. It's been great for us.
