My 22 month old DS has periodically crawled out of his crib before but now seems to be taking the endeavor seriously and is consistently climbing out of his crib at bedtime. Really it is time to switch to a toddler bed but our living situation just doesn't make it a good idea. We are currently in a one bedroom apartment with DS's area where the dining table would be which is open to the living room.
If DS is crawling out of bed we are concerned about safety issues and are looking for alternatives. We have hopes to move but that's at least months away. It has been suggested we give him our bedroom but that's just not practical for us either and co-sleeping "works" but can't be a long term solution.
Any ideas out there?
Thanks!
Re: Crib Escaper
Could you partition that area off to keep him safely confined using something like the wooden nortstate super play yard ?

It can be free standing or wall attached and has only vertical bars so nothing to climb on, if you have enough space you could make that his safe area so even if he gets out of bed he can't go anywhere .. maybe keep some toys in there so he has his own space??
I love my play yards and even tho they werent cheap ( keep an eye on Amazon .. the prices fluctuate and we got a good deal ) they are so versatile we bought two and an extension kit and have had it configured as a 6x8 foot play area, two smaller play pens, across windows and doors... allsorts .. and when it's no longer needed it will be great for puppy training lol.
Wow! You definitely love those play yards
We had discussed this as a possibility too and it might work as long as DS is just tired enough not to try and climb it with his monkey feet! He's already figured out how to scale the gate across the kitchen entrance!!
Thanks for the suggestion and I'll maybe check craigslist too!
This even if it means moving things like your dresser to the dining area and getting rid of bedside tables. I don't think you have many other choices.
