Thank you its reassuring to hear 2 people that enjoy it.... I guess all names are made up and I dont see why richelle is any different than michelle and not being from the far south I dont think new orleans at all.
Nola is not a made up name. It is an Irish name and it is lovely. I have been to New Orleans and I love it there, but I do not automatically think of New Orleans when I hear Nola. I had a student named Nola and she was a cutie.
I do not like Richelle at all though, my sister's name is Michelle and to me they are very very different names.
It's aesthetically pretty. And I live 5 hours from New Orleans and have never heard anyone local refer to it as NOLA (I do see the derivation, but here in east TX, I don't hear it used). My MIL's name is Anola (which I think is probably a misspelling of Enola)
Not a huge fan of Nola, but my best friend's middle name is Richelle so that one is fine for me.

Re: what do you think of this baby girl name
I know a really classy lady named Nola, so I don't mind it, but it's nms and it does make me think of New Orleans.
Rochelle or Rachelle, but not Richelle.
Same here.
I really like it!

A couple people did say it sounded made up. I was just clarifying that it wasn't made up.
I think Nola sounds like a nickname.
Richelle is nms, at all.
