S/O meaning of Mallory

I had no idea that the meaning of Mallory had a negative connotation until the below post. So it got me to thinking, what other names have "negative" or strange meanings? Anything that was on your list until you found out what it meant?

I love Cornelia, but do not like that it means horn.

  • Melanie means "dark one." As in coloring, not, like, Voldemort. Which isn't negative, it's just not a cool meaning or anything. And doesn't work if your kid is blonde and pale.

  • Kennedy means lumpy head?? Bahaha, DH totally just earned a new nickname!

  • I need to get on the ball with meanings of names.... I didn't know any of these!
  • Kennedy is DS's middle name and means misshapen or armored head after the battle armor helmets so that doesn't bother me.

    Cecelia- blind

    Mara- bitter

What bothers me more is names that are made up and have no meaning  or history

  • Campbell is a family name, and I knew the meaning, but I still like it ;)

    DD's name means freedom

DH wanted to name DD Brenna, which means dark, and she's as far as can be. Guess it's good we went in another direction

DH's name means supplanter. Whatever that's supposed to mean

My name means stranger. Clearly my parents weren't influenced by name meanings. My brothers' meanings are small and farmer. They are neither small nor farmers

My nephews are fun. One means pledge, another means happy (very appropriate), one has 2 different meanings depending on the language you want to go with.

  • I'm in love with Claudia/Claudio, but they mean "lame". As in, club foot lame. Weird. But, I may still use them sometime in the future. Nobody really knows what names mean anymore anyway, right? :)

supplanter: one who wrongfully or illegally seizes and holds the place of another

It's the meaning of James, which we are considering as a mn. The meaning made me hesitant to use it, especially for a second child, lol.
