Interesting article. Thanks for sharing. I talk to J a lot. I usually try to tell her what I'm doing...cores, fixing dinner, brushing teeth. She is almost always with me. The article was a good reminder.

Great article. I definitely agree there is a great importance in talking to your baby from day one. It helps establish the habit of explaining what is going on and why you are doing it, so that as they begin to understand what you are saying, there is less confusion for the child. For example: if you take a toy away from a toddler, they may throw a fit, crying, upset, throw themselves on the ground. And most parents probably just say "you can't have that" instead of "it's time to eat dinner so let's put your toy down so we can sit at the dinner table together." The more communication and explanation, the better.

We discussed this research when I was getting my MEd in literacy. It has definitely always been on my mind as a parent too.
