Hello,
I am new to the board and just wanted to introduce myself! I have been on the TTC after loss boards for awhile now, but we made the decision awhile back to start the adoption process!
My husband (27) and I (25) have been married for 3 1/2 years and trying to conceive for about 2 years now. Our Christian faith has played a significant role in our efforts to starts a family. We trust that God's timing is perfect and want to wait on and walk with Him in the process. After about 9 months of trying, we got pregnant and miscarried at about 6 weeks. I was devastated, but God used it to show us even more how much we long to be parents and how He cares for us in our sufferings. Then, about 6 months ago, I read a book about adoption after feeling a prompting to consider it as another way that God may have for us to start a family. And so the crazy journey began!
At the beginning of April, we applied with a domestic program. We have never parented before, and though we really want to adopt internationally, we knew we it would be more likely to get an infant domestically. We are currently on their waiting list as they have had only 4 placements this year and all of those birth moms found their own placements. We may not be active and begin the process of home study, etc. with them until January because they like to keep their program small.
This month, I was diagnosed with PCOS (causes hormonal imbalance that makes it difficult to ovulate regularly). Despite being excited about having some answers from our RE about steps to take with fertility, I was sad that this may mean we might stop trying to adopt. We are beginning to start fertility treatment (Clomid) at the end of the month, but we have not stopped the adoption process. Yay! We are currently talking with West Sands in Utah about adopting from Ethiopia because I still long to adopt internationally even if it means older children, and recently, we received a call from a friend regarding a possible interstate situation.
Excited to glean from your stories and hear from all of you! Thanks!
