Caroline and Catherine

DH and I have always loved the name Catherine. His hang up was that Kathryn is the recent ex wife of one of his best friends. Nothing else seems to stick so we keep going back to Catherine as our girl name. My mom thinks Caroline and Catherine are perfect together and says as long as its not the name of DHs ex he shouldn't worry about it. Hes not now! He's been referring to the baby as Catherine or Isaac. Possible middle names so far are:
Catherine Dianne DHs grandmothers name
Catherine Paige
Catherine Jeanne my Gma
Thoughts?

I think Catherine Dianne is nice.  Honestly, it's such a common name that I don't see it being an issue, especially with the different spelling.  What about Caitlyn?

I love Catherine and think any of those mn's would be nice since they all seem to have meaning.   I agree that its a common enough name I don't think the friends ex's connection would bother me at all

I am in the same boat with Clare, it's his best friends ex wife so he's hung up on that! I keep trying to convince him it's not a big deal! Good for you that yours came around!

I think Catherine is also different spelling and as PP said it's such a traditional, classic name its not like you are naming her after the ex!

I don't see any problem with using Catherine. I really like both Dianne and Jeanne for mn's but don't care for Paige.

I agree with the majority so far that the ex issue isn't a problem. Now if it were a really unusual name it might be different, but with a common name (and a different spelling) I think it's fine.

Of the combo ideas given Catherine Dianne gets my vote.
