Implanon GONE!

I am so excited to start trying for 3

Re: Implanon GONE!

  • Awesome! I have a year left with my Implanon, and once it's out, I will not be having another put in. How did the removal go, and did your doctor say anything about when your fertility should return?

  • Were trying for number 3 too, and so excited but it is not happening as quick as I hoped. When I had the implanon removed it was okay took a little longer than I expected and was a little harder to pull out then the doctor thought because it had crystallized a little at the end, making it harder to grab. I was numbed so it wasn't too bad but the pulling made it a little sore for a couple days. They did tell me my fertility should return in two months.

  • Congrats!! I'm hoping to have mine removed (it's my second) before the year is out.

This is my second (as I said) and removal is simply a teeny-tiny cut near the end of the rod (after local anaesthetic) and they use tweezers to pull it out and a little butterfly stitch. Because I had the second put in at the same time I can't be sure what physical changes/pain is associated with the removal but I do have a small scar, nothing I'm too worried about though.

Fertility should return immediately according to all literature. Some women get pregnant the first month after removal, however it's important to remember that all bodies are different... I certainly hope I don't have to wait too long though 'cause I'm 30 this year!!
  • I had Implanon removed a couple of years ago because of periods every couple of weeks. My doctor had extreme trouble getting mine out of my arm, so much she got my blood in her eye..eek..I did not have any pain afterwards but do have a very small scar now!
