My daughter has a "dimple" on her back under her spine. I have to take her to get an ultrasound tomorrow. My mother told me I have one to and it was nothing but i am so nervous about it. does anyone else have any experience with this?

My first son has a sacral dimple as well and we had an ultrasound done when he was 3 days old to see if the spinal cord was still attached aka a tethered cord. It turned out perfectly fine. I was such a mess worrying! His dimple is slightly off center and somewhat deep which is more concerning so when he was 2 we saw a specialist who wanted an MRI done. That also turned out totally normal. I pray this helps ease your mind!!!
DS1 has one but I've never thought of something being wrong and the Doctors have never said anything about it either. he is 6 years old.
If the dimple is shallow, it's usually not a concern. If they can't see the base of the dimple, they will do an ultrasound to visualize the spinal canal.

I mostly lurked on this bored while pregnant, but my son has the sacral dimple as well. I had never heard of it before and I was worried sick. Then i found out that his 2 cousins have it too. They are older and never had to get it checked out. We had an ultrasound done 2 weeks ago and everything is ok!
Try not to stress,I know that's easier said then done. I'm sure your baby will be just fine:
My sister has themit ended up being nothing. We had to go get a sacral us done on Monday for my LO though bc he has a birthmark at the base of his spine. Thank God it ended up being nothing. I was worried sick.
I have it and so did my brother. Mine is barely noticeable now, but I get pilonidal cysts because of it. Now I know what it feels like when they are coming in and I call the doctor for an antibiotic, which prevents the flair-ups.
My daughter has one too. However, they did an ultrasound and said they couldn't tell and it is best to do an MRI. They have to put her under for this, and won't do it until she is 4 months (non-adjusted). Hers is low, but deep. I am sooo nervous now!
my little girl did so good during her ultrasound today. the only time she got upset was for a second when i had to hold her legs straight. The dr should have the results in the next 24 hours but the tech did give me some hope when she said it looks more superficial then anything.

We just had a lumbosacral ultrasound on Monday because the doctor observed a small sacral dimple on our newborn's bottom. I was very worried, but the ultrasound was completely normal. What I learned is that there are multiple markers for tethered cord. Another pediatrician told us that he doesn't order ultrasounds unless there are at least two markers present because he's never seen a sacral dimple alone in a true tethered cord (or other spinal damage) situation. Other markers include characteristic skin discoloration and hair growth. Easier said than done, but try not to worry. Our sonographer told us this is a routine test. Good luck tomorrow. I'm sure your daughter will be fine.
