I had my 16 week apt on Monday and the doc listened to their little heart beats and measured me and all looked good but no ultrasound. They are di/di so I would think all is going well but is 7 weeks a long time to go in between scans? Our next scan isn't scheduled until the last day of the month (19ish weeks) and he last scan was at 12 weeks. Is this normal?
Re: No US for 7 weeks??!!!
I had my NT scan at 12 weeks, anatomy scan at 18 weeks and have had a growth ultrasound every 4 weeks since then. Even if the twins are di/di I think you should still be getting a growth scan once a month. At 30 weeks we found a 23% discordance, so I was referred to MFM. Scanned there at 32 weeks and it had dropped to 12%. My c-section is scheduled for August 1st and I am going to ask my OB tomorrow if I will have one more scan to make sure both boys are still growing. I don't feel comfortable not knowing!
Sometimes you have to speak up and advocate for yourself and your babies if you don't feel like they are doing enough monitoring!
Unexplained Infertility
After two Clomid cycles, three injectable IUI cycles, two IVFs, two miscarriages, and one lap surgery, IVF #2 has brought us our little boy!
TTC #2
After months of being postponed or cancelled, FET #1.3 (Natural FET) brought us twin girls!
Sounds like I might be getting scanned a lot in comparison to others. For weeks 11-16 I had scans almost very week due to complications. Then I wasn't scanned again until week 20. I go back in next week (22 weeks) for a scan to check cervical length and then again in 2 weeks for my normal OB & MFM appointments (24 weeks). I think, if all goes well at that appointment I will end up going 4 weeks without a scan, but once I hit 28 weeks I will get bi-weekly scans, until 32 weeks where they will scan every week.
All of that being said, my OB has never used a doppler to check the heartbeats - she only uses a quick office u/s.
Btw - I have di/di twins (as far as we know).
Yup, same for me here, too. I started having BH contractions non-stop at 22w, so they started doing cervial length checks via the wand every 2 weeks until 26w (at which point cervical length becomes a less predictable indicator) -- and usually did a mini u/s while I was there.
They would have done growth scans every 4 weeks starting at 20 weeks, had I had a 'normal' pregnancy. I assume they would have increased the frequency of those towards the end, too.
12dp5dt: 765; 15dp5dt: 1979; 17dp5dt: 3379...TWINS!!!!!
Our perfect baby boys were born at 36w1d!!
I'm a newbie to all this and I know that mo/di usually get monitored more often than di/di, but I would think that is a long time.
I was an IF patient so got 2 early ultrasounds at 6w2d and 7w3d, with the OB at 8w1d and then with MFM at 10w. I go for the NT scan at 11w6d then will go back 4 weeks later at 16 weeks, then every 2 weeks after that.
If you're not comfortable, call and ask!
We had our first scan at 14 weeks and our having our a/s next week (21 weeks). I think it's pretty normal at this stage of pregnancy.
ETA: My twins are also di/di.
I will be having them every 2 - 4 weeks until after 30 weeks when they will happen once a week.
I have already had one at 5, 6.5 and 10 weeks, and will have the NT scan at 12 weeks with another scan at 14 weeks (because I will be travelling right after). Plus an extra one today for bleeding. It does seem like a lot, but they want to make sure all is good. They are SUPER quick, just to check for heart beats then done.
I'm di/di. My u/s's have been as follows:
7 week dating
13 week check since they couldn't hear both hbs two appts in a row.
20 week anatomy
24 week 2nd anatomy to get the pics they missed
28 week growth scan
and I have one that will be scheduled in week 32. then they will decide if they are going to move my growth checks to bi or tri weekly.
