So I am reviewing my medical records to give my new OB, and it turns out that I may have a planned C-Section.
Due to my 4th Degree tear with DS, its almost a precautionary measure to proceed this way - due to possibly damaging my pelvic floor and and my pudental nerve more so than the first time. I had reconstructive surgery for my pelvic floor in '09, and I remember the recovery for the first few days was a little difficult, but the total heal time was around 6-8 weeks.
I'm just nervous about this recovery, since I have a 4yo now. Now if I plan this right, I could have a 4 day stretch with DH before he goes back to work - the surgery can be on a thursday and so he could have the whole weekend with us. For those who have experience with C/S, are they quite painful? Or is the pain managable? My surgery, IMHO, the pain management wasn't well tolerated.
Apparently no pain meds were allowed in recovery - and it took 3 hours before I had a room (where they could give me meds). The epidural wore off and I was praying to be put out of my misery - I can only imagine it was because so much time had gone by, for the pain to build up again. Also is breastfeeding difficult with C/S mothers? I would love to breastfeed DD, but how does that work with both the recovery etc.?
