So we are having carpet installed by Home Depot tomorrow. Usually we use DH's father's construction crew to work on the house but not for the carpet installation.
We had new countertops put in by some guys at Home Depot last month and they weren't allowed to accept tips when we asked. It can't hurt to try though.
We said goodbye to our sweet Taylor Ashley on August 8, 2012.We lost baby Noelle on May 1, 2015
Mom to Cam and Al, now expecting baby number 3, August 2016. Praying for lots of sticky baby dust!
Offer, but they probably cant accept them. I also offer bottles of water or gatorade, the last guys who installed something were very grateful for something cold to drink.

Same thing happened with the guys that delivered our new bed. I'm glad they were honest instead of taking something they shouldn't have. They did accept the Gatorade DH offered them. Even though it was something small, I was still glad we were able to give them something.
It's up to you. I didn't tip when we had renovations done on our house. We had new carpet and hardwoods put in, appliances installed and new countertops put in. I didn't tip any of them. They get paid a standard hourly rate (well above minimum wage) and don't rely on tips for income. Plus I'm shelling out $2000+ on new countertops or carpet installation, I'm sorry but I'm not paying any additional money. Also I'm not sure about Home Depot, but Lowe's drivers are not allowed to accept tips.
ETA - I didn't offer water or anything to the guys delivering appliances because it was winter and they were literally in and out in under 10 minutes. I do however offer something cold to drink to the guys that work on our yard in the summer, especially on hot days. They have only accepted a few times, but it's still nice to offer.
