Hello everyone
I am Mrs.C
H and I have been married for 6 years in Aug. I joined TB back in Nov 11 when I found out I was pregnant with our DD.(She'll be 2 on the 31st!) We weren't trying to get pregnant, but she was a happy surprise.
We've been trying for #2 for 16 months now (cycle 17). I have been charting BBT, OPKs, CBEFM, checking CP/CM, the works. Started all the basic testing with my OB a few months ago, bless her heart- she was convinced an HSG would be all it took to get me KUed lol. No such luck ![]()
All the testing has come back perfect, so we are officially DX "Unexplained Secondary IF" I have my first RE appt. on the 22nd and of course I'm freaking out a bit. This whole process is so frustrating, because for months the Dr. just kept scratching her head and saying "Well, it should have happened by now" Gee, thanks
it's just so annoying to not have any answers. So far my OB warned me that the RE would want to repeat a lot of the testing, and mentioned a possible U/S on that first visit. Anything else I should expect?
Good luck to you all!
Re: Intro
Welcome! I am Mrs. C too! (And have been married for 6 years AND have a DD). Sounds like we have a lot in common!
What I would give to have a surprise pregnancy! I guess my daughter was somewhat of a surprise. We got pregnant the first month of trying.
My OB said the same things to me. I really like her, but when she kept saying, "You're so young. Don't get frustrated." I started to really get frustrated! :P It is VERY annoying to not have answers, just like you said, but the sucky part of IF is that the more you discover about your diagnosis, the more questions you have.
My first visit to RE was a little different (I think). We met for about an hour first to discuss everything that would be coming up - testing, possible treatments, etc. She checked my history, asked me a bunch of personal questions, and then broke down for me the statistics of infertility. She told me to call the office on day 1 of my next cycle to start testing. We did a CD3 ultrasound and based on the number of follicles she counted (only 11, for my age, not good), she decided to do an Ovarian Assessment Report. It was basically a blood test that assessed all my hormone levels and then plugged in all my data to determine (statistically) how successful an egg retrieval would be (or how my body would likely react to follicle stimulation). Later we checked to see if my tubes were open and then DH had a SA done. 8 months later she thought it would be a good idea to do another OAR.
The best advice I can give is to take lots of notes, ask any and every question you want and speak up if you don't want to do something (ie. re-test again). Good luck to you! I hope you get your bfp very soon!

Grad lurking....Hi Mrs. C! I hate to see you here. These ladies here are awesome and are so knowledgeable. You know some of my story but I am in the unexplained category too. It is very frustrating. I almost wish they would find something wrong so I would have an answer.
Anyways, I will be thinking of you and I hope your stay is short.
