My baby is almost 4 months and he goes to bed at 10pm every night. I would like to see if I can get his bedtime moved up a bit earlier so my husband and I have a few minutes together in the evenings. So far each time I try to put my LO down earlier he cries and will not sleep. Any advice on how to move up the bedtime?
Re: Any advice on moving up bedtime?
Have you tried way earlier? My daughter has been asleep by 6:30 for about 8 weeks now bur prior to that we could not get her down before 10-10:30. She was happy and calm but there was no way to get her asleep.
Then we realized she was over tired and we were missing her prime sleep window. That still remains between about 6:10 and 6:25pm! She goes down, wakes for feeds but is right back to sleep. If we miss that prime window then she is up for hours with little hope of getting her asleep.
Is it possible the same would work for your son?
This, exactly. My LO was sleeping 10pm to 10am for awhile, but she started getting up earlier, so we tried to put her down around 8, but she would fuss until 10...until she started putting herself to sleep around 6 or 6:30!
We had the same problem with our little one, now 5 months. I couldn't get her to bed for the night until 10:30 or 11. So I started giving her a bath every night just before bed. Then, we slowly moved bedtime up 15 to 30 minutes about every week, or once I felt she was use to it, until we got to 8- 8:30.

This is exactly the way to do it! Also make sure you darken the house and sleeping space as much as possible.
