Our 13 MO just began biting at first it was just our clothes but tonight he gt some skin and IT HURT!! Wondering if anyone had any advice on how to get it to stop!!
My son has been a biter off and on for the last two months. It was really bad when he was getting his molars in. He usually bites when he is excited or bored. He even bit a little gal at DC and left teeth marks (he has 12 teeth now!!)
I can't say it really "works" but whenever he bites or tries to, I take away whatever he is trying to bite, for example my arm, then say very firmly "no biting, that hurts Mommy" and then redirect him immediately to something else. He is doing it lately when we are playing on the floor together so I have just taken him to different area or got a new toy going and he usually forgets about it. Previously I was saying "no biting" with no redirect or scene change (usually just me being lazy and not wanting to move somewhere else:)) and then he would try to do it over and over. So with my son the key is redirect, redirect, redirect.
BUT, I also think this is a phase that stays for a while regardless of trying to make it stop. Just part of the age and discovery of the world and emotions via their mouth!
