I used the FemCap before I got pregnant and was successful with it for more than two years. I've also used the sponge ... man, the things you'll try when you can't take hormonal birth control.
The biggest reason I don't use it now and have Paragard instead is that the cap, and diaphragm too, are less effective after you've given birth, especially if you had a vaginal birth. I wanted something with a higher efficacy rate.
That said, my mom used a diaphragm for decades. She had three planned kids. We were all csection babies though.
