My LOs keep getting sun even when they have sunblock on and we reapply. Plus we are never out longer than an hour in the sun. We have tried target brand, banana boat, neutrogena and aveeno all with SPFs of 50 or higher. DH's family has a history of moles and skin cancer so I'm super paranoid. What sunblock are you using and does it work well.
Re: A sunblock that actually works?? Any recs?
When you say get some sun do you mean burned or some color? I don't think there is any way except full clothing cover to prevent any color at all...and frankly if you are using sunscreen, a little vitamin d from the sun in one hour is not a bad thing.
we use the neutrogena pure and free baby stick for face and the coppertone kids pure and simple for body. It has a pretty low score for the chemicals etc on the ewg website, check it out at https://www.ewg.org/2013sunscreen/. There are other things w lower scores that are harder to find and more expensive but these two are not bad .
my kids are fair and outside quite a bit and have or gotten burned w hese products even at beach and pool.

I've been obsessed with finding the perfect sunscreen. My ideal one would be 1) physical/mineral blocker - preferrable non-nano Zinc based. 2) effective. 3) easily spreadable. 4) non-greasy. 5) does not turn my kid totally white.
So my favorite are Babo Botanicals, KidSport spray.

We just spent a week in FL, outside most of the day (Disney, beach, etc.), and used Neutrogena's pure & free baby, I think the SPF is 60.
They got a bit of pink under their eyes (in spite of hats), and otherwise nothing. I was very happy with the level of protection.
