Aden and Anais or Swaddle me?

I've heard nothing but great things about the AA blankets, so I purchased a pack of them. However I don't have any of the swaddle me blankets. They seem handy because of the velcro and being able to keep a nice tight swaddle. For those of you who have used both, which did you prefer? Do you think I'm fine with what I have? With DS I just used receiving blankets and that was a PITA.

  • I have both. But the AA blankets are nice and light for this desert heat...perfect for covering up his stroller/carseat when in public

  • I love the a a blankets! And the Muslin cotton is perfect for summer! And the size is great, they even make a nice blanket for breast feeding!
  • I have both. I figure I can use the AA blankets for both swaddling and covering up while out and about. Also, I read so many posts about babies having an affinity for one or the other, that I figured we should try both.

  • It really depends on your child. My DS was such a wiggler that the swaddle me blankets alone didnt work for him. I LOVE the A&A blankets. They are great for swaddling, covering the carseat while you are out, laying down on the floor for baby, etc. They are worth every penny and I always buy them at Target where they are a little cheaper. That said, I will try the Swaddle Me blankets with this LO.  When DS was first born, we would swaddle him with a regular blanket and then put him in the swaddle me velcro blanket to make it extra secure and then they worked fine Smile

  • I love the AA blankets, fortunately I found some Carter's brand (I think they were) at JC Penney for WAY cheaper.  But I've also considered a few swaddlers, our consignment store always has them for like $2.  I also purchased a couple of swaddlers like the Woombies at BRU for when they're smaller.  I've heard such great things about them for sleeping.

  • I love my AA blankets, but not for swaddling.  DS needed hard core velcro for a swaddle to stay in place - we loved the halo sleepsacks.  We use the AA blankets as coverups when we're outside in the summer heat.

  • I love the blankets. YouTube the "escape proof swaddle". DS loved it.

I had a few halo sleep sack swaddles he also liked. But those blankets are so versatile. They were my carseat cover, my nursing cover, light blanket...it's very multifunctional.

  • SwaddleMe velcro swaddlers, hands down, for swaddling. We used both with DS, but I hated the A&A for swaddling (too big, even folded). However, A&A are good for other things (nursing cover, car seat cover, etc) and they are wonderful thin blankets for summer. DS sleeps (age 2) sleeps with one now.

  • FTM here but I really like the AA swaddled blankets. We live in Florida and it can get very hot. The muslin cotton seems to be perfect.
  • I had both and did not like the swaddle me. It never seemed to hold the babies tight enough. The AA blankets are the best! My two year old still sleeps with one. They are soft and light. I can't say enought good things about them

  • I think it depends on the LO, DD screamed until she turned blue in the swaddle me but was comforted in the AA blanket.

  • I have both. For actual swaddling, I highly recommend the SwaddleMe, it is a million times easier than trying to use a blanket. But I used the A&A blankets for a lot of other things, including covering the carseat when we took newborn DD places so people wouldn't bother her but she also wouldn't get too hot.

  • Go with AA for longevity alone, my 4 and 5 year old LOVE to sleep with them still, they are the perfect summer blanket :)

*wishes they had an affordable one in my size*

  • With DD we had both, along with the Halo sleep sack swaddles. We used the Swaddleme for the first month or so, then she outgrew it so we started using the Halo sleepsack. I found the velcro swaddles much better than the AA blankets for staying tight while she was sleeping. When DD got older, around 3 months, she would break out of the swaddle but sleep just fine without it, so we used the AA blankets because I was less worried about them smothering her if they were loose. She still sleeps with those now at 17 months.
  • Thanks! I think i'll go ahead and pick up a swaddleme to have on hand to try and see what baby prefers.

  • AA for summertime & newborn phase and I also like the Miracle Blanket (similiar to swaddle me blankets).
  • Halo has WAY better velcro than the Swaddle Me.

I've got a Woombie, a Halo, and a Miracle blanket, and then just some flannel receiving blankets.

Once Upon a Child or consignment sales are a great place to look for swaddlers - and be able to see the differences.

  • Both, DS still sleeps with his A&A blankets and he's almost 3 but SwaddleMe's were a lifesaver when he was a baby. I never really used the A&A blankets for swaddling but they were great to cover with lightly once he was swaddled and he still loves them.

  • A&A here. (DS has 8 of them, and still sleeps with them, even at 2.5+ years)

Plus, we have some of the woombies, too.

  • I think it depends on your baby. I love the A&A and used them for my two kids, but with my second, who wouldn't stay asleep, the A&A eventually drove me crazy, and I happily switched to Swaddle me until I was done swaddling her. I have both for this 3rd baby. From picking up my DD a lot to rock, put back down, keep content, the A&A kept unwrapping though I did it nice and snug. Loved the stay-put feature of swaddle me. I still like A&A though so I might use both.

As an aside, on amazon, Hudson Baby has a much cheaper, just-as-soft (and big) muslin swaddling blanket. Two cute ones in boy or girl, for $13.   https://www.amazon.com/Hudson-Baby-Muslin-Swaddle-Blanket/dp/B009ZU3XYQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1373344838&sr=8-1&keywords=hudson+swaddling

A&A is useful beyond swaddling...nursing cover, light blanket, car seat cover, etc. My 2yo currently uses one as a light sheet during the summer.
