I've heard nothing but great things about the AA blankets, so I purchased a pack of them. However I don't have any of the swaddle me blankets. They seem handy because of the velcro and being able to keep a nice tight swaddle. For those of you who have used both, which did you prefer? Do you think I'm fine with what I have? With DS I just used receiving blankets and that was a PITA.

Re: Aden and Anais or Swaddle me?
This.
I had a few halo sleep sack swaddles he also liked. But those blankets are so versatile. They were my carseat cover, my nursing cover, light blanket...it's very multifunctional.

I have both. For actual swaddling, I highly recommend the SwaddleMe, it is a million times easier than trying to use a blanket. But I used the A&A blankets for a lot of other things, including covering the carseat when we took newborn DD places so people wouldn't bother her but she also wouldn't get too hot.
this. Swaddle me did nothing for us.
Go with AA for longevity alone, my 4 and 5 year old LOVE to sleep with them still, they are the perfect summer blanket
*wishes they had an affordable one in my size*

Halo has WAY better velcro than the Swaddle Me.
I've got a Woombie, a Halo, and a Miracle blanket, and then just some flannel receiving blankets.
Once Upon a Child or consignment sales are a great place to look for swaddlers - and be able to see the differences.

A&A here. (DS has 8 of them, and still sleeps with them, even at 2.5+ years)
Plus, we have some of the woombies, too.
I think it depends on your baby. I love the A&A and used them for my two kids, but with my second, who wouldn't stay asleep, the A&A eventually drove me crazy, and I happily switched to Swaddle me until I was done swaddling her. I have both for this 3rd baby. From picking up my DD a lot to rock, put back down, keep content, the A&A kept unwrapping though I did it nice and snug. Loved the stay-put feature of swaddle me. I still like A&A though so I might use both.
As an aside, on amazon, Hudson Baby has a much cheaper, just-as-soft (and big) muslin swaddling blanket. Two cute ones in boy or girl, for $13. https://www.amazon.com/Hudson-Baby-Muslin-Swaddle-Blanket/dp/B009ZU3XYQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1373344838&sr=8-1&keywords=hudson+swaddling
A&A is useful beyond swaddling...nursing cover, light blanket, car seat cover, etc. My 2yo currently uses one as a light sheet during the summer.
