Those with pools come on in!

How are you guys baby proofing for the pool?
We can't put a gate up around the pool, so we have to somehow keep the door locked. I know the current locks that we have on is only going to last so long. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

No pool but we do have to make sure our 2 year old doesn't just wander out of the house. The door knob covers still work for us, he can't open them. We also have an alarm that beeps anytime a door is opened.

My parents used to have a pool, instead of gating around the pool, they gated their covered patio, much smaller area. Is that an option?

Nope. We have concrete as a patio that's connected to the pool. I am thinking a lock at the top of the door like ameyer suggested. I can only do that for one door. The other door, is just stupid and hard to explain. Our house was built in the 70's and nothing has been remodeled since then. I guess we could just get a new door.

My in-laws have a pool and my FIL put two handles on the door that leads out to the pool. One and the normal level and one above an adults head. You have to pull down on both handles at the same time in order for the door to open. It has been great because the little kids can't reach the top handle, so they can't go outside unless there is an adult around to let them out. Cheap but effective.

    That's a great idea!
