Jocosa

WDYT of Jocosa? How would you pronounce it?

It's the Medieval English form of Joyce and it means "merry, playful"

ETA: the nickname Jo is cute, and this may go to the MN spot.

  • Juh cosa? I appreciate that it may have some meaning to you, but there's something odd about it... It doesn't sound very pleasant to me, sorry.

  • If you like a JO name, or nn, I wouldn't worry about the meaning, but start looking at something you can live with.  With Jocosa, no matter how YOU pronounce it, some teacher or dance instructor is always going to trip up on how to pronounce it, or how to spell it.

What about Jocelyn, or Jolene, or Joley, Joelle, Josephine?  There are lots of names not in the top 50 for popularity that are pretty, & Jo works as the nn.

Personally, if I saw Jocosa on a register, I'd be wondering if it was a boy or girl, and what nationality (simply b/c some different nationalities have strict dietary needs for their religion).

It's the meaning I like, not necessarily the NN Jo. That won't matter much.

  • How about Merry? or Makena?
  • NMS and it would most likely come off as made up. And I personally don't see anything pretty about it.
