Screaming to Sleep While Traveling

Anyone else have this difficulty? It's awful but no matter what we do generally when we travel he will scream his head off in order to sleep. We normally put him down tired, but awake, no problem at home, but when traveling he throughs a fit if we do that so we hold him longer to soothe him into sleep but even then he throws a fit. It's not always the case, but often, and enough to make us never want to travel. Ugh. It's awful. Anyone have this experience too? Ideas? Suggestions?

  • We have this trouble, too. It gets better after a couple of nights in one place. I try to keep the routine as much the same as possible, but instead of laying him down awake, I turn the lamp off and rock him until he falls asleep. This usually takes at least one fit and a whole lot of rocking, but sometimes it gets better. I also found that it was easier for him if he couldn't see me from his PNP if he woke up. I try to position it so that he can't see the head of our bed from his bed, and I also take our video monitor so I can leave the room (at my parents' house) but still be able to keep an eye on him. Having a loud air conditioner or fan is also super helpful for helping DS sleep through all of the different night noises when we travel.
