Hello, I am new to The Bump and really any type of message board but I finally gave in and joined. I am about 19 weeks and I am 19 years old. I know I am young and am going to be changing my life dramatically here in the next few months! I am not only scared out of my mind but I am extremely excited as well! I do have quite a bit of concern though, because I am not sure what I should expect while I am expecting! I suppose I am like almost any new mother to be... right?
I guess I should get to the point, I am not sure how my fiance' and I are going to financially be able to do this. We live in Washington State, and we are aware of state help but we don't qualify for it due to living with my dad and his wife. I know that stress is bad for the little one but I can't seem to not worry myself about all of the things we need to do. My step mother has told my fiance' and I that we will need to move out before the new arrival. With us being a young couple, who just 3 months ago moved across the state to find work and have only been working for 2 months now, we don't have enough money to pull off a move right now and care for a child on top of that. I am scared the bills are just going to stack up and we aren't going to be able to do anything about it.
Then there are, of course, the worries of all the medical bills, I read that delivery itself can be more than 30 thousand dollars! I have no idea how we are going to afford that!!!
I know that the state help would definitely be worth while to us, and we don't intend on abusing the system for years on end but it would definitely help us get on our feet. How can we go about applying when we live with my parents for now, but in the next couple months we have to be out on our own? We don't pay rent here, and don't pay bills or anything. We contribute to the household in other ways, and they are allowing us to do so, so we can save up our small incomes for the future.
Can someone please give me a little bit of advice? I know that my post isn't very clear, but if you can decipher it and have some knowledge it would be much appreciated! Thank you so much!
