The poll function won't work. Gotta do this the manual way.
I made French toast for breakfast and we only use maple syrup, the real stuff from Vermont or Canada. When I bought more yesterday I noticed I could get Aunt Jemima/Mrs Butterworth for $4 vs $8 for maple. I looked at ingredient list and saw that the $4 stuff is pure corn syrup. I just feel like maple syrup is more real and has a richer flavor. Who is with me??
Re: Poll: Maple Syrup or Pancake Syrup
But to be honest, usually neither. I generally eat my pancakes dry, my waffles with butter or berries with powdered sugar, and French toast with cinnamon.
Maple...or peanut butter....mmmmm

Dry pancakes?
Not always, but most of the time.
I eat cereal dry too. I'm not saying it's normal, but it's how I roll.
You can usually get a great price on maple syrup at Trader Joes, if you have one. I also highly recommend B grade, as it has a richer flavor.
Well I've just witnessed my first condiment sanctimony moment
I know me too! My taste buds just never evolved to like maple at all.
Real, no options. If I can't afford it, I don't eat pancakes. I'm not buying a bottle of caramel-colored corn syrup for $4.
ETA: Also, it's amazing on vanilla ice cream. YWIA.
I had never had real maple syrup until I met him. I don't think I could back.
We usually have some face stuff too for DH he grew up on that stuff and wants it every now and then.
Whenever the topic of sugar or processed food comes up, there's at least one in every bunch.
Of course, someone who prefers to skip drizzling additional sugar on his food altogether is "silly."
DH prefers butter flavored store stuff. That is his choice. I don't buy it though. He rarely ever eats waffles/pancakes/french toast.
Although, DH does LOVE it when I make yogurt (homemade) and add real Maple Syrup for the sweetener. He can never get enough of it.

Sorry.
I have a Daughter born 2/26/2013. She is pretty much amazing!
Thanks! That sounds delish.
Eh, if you're eating enough of either one for it to make a difference, you're eating too many pancakes.
Sacrilege says the Vermonter! real, Grade B Vermont Maple Syrup is the only way to go. Put it on pancakes, waffles, ice cream or for a super awesome treat....fresh snow!,
Maple syrup, being natural, has antioxidants in it, including vitamins and minerals like zinc. Theoretically, it's healthier.
It's still mostly sucrose though and metabolized similarly to white sugar.
This! I love cracker barrel maple syrup, but it's a rare treat for me at $8 a bottle and my dh won't use it.
