One years old and delays?

So my son had his one year checkup a couple weeks ago. They are concerned he isn't developing properly. I don't feel concerned. He is walking with a walker, table walking just hasn't let go. He is only one years old. Also, he isn't talking. He babbles. I find it interesting he says the first letter of every word, such as UP he says uhhh. Or Addy he says Ahhhh. He can't get the rest of the word out. Anyone else have these issues with speech. He just seems young to worry. 

My daughter wil,be 4 and spoke sentences by one years old. She knew all her animal sounds and colors

Ds is 18 mnths and doesn't say much. My dr said not.to worry they have a bust or.words normally around 182 years. Also my son took his first steps a week after he turned 1 then nothing for over a month. March he started really walking again. I wouldnt worry unless there was no development at all.and it doesn't sound that way.

First, and I know its hard, but stop comparing your children. Every child develops differently. Your older child sounds very advanced, sentences at one year is NOT the norm. To me, your lo's development doesn't sound delayed. Many babies aren't walking yet at a year, and I think 15 months is when most doctors are looking for words.

DD didn't walk until 14 months. And she also did the first letter thing at a year old. I wouldn't be concerned either.

He is small in weight too so maybe that's why but gonna give it another three months for any early intervention. I told the doctor no

Our pedi said motions in response to words was more important than speaking at 12 mos eg "so big" and dd raises her arms over her head, or if you're happy and you know it clap your hands and dd claps. He added that sometimes dc won't comply because it is more fun to watch you.

It's amazing how much doctor's advice varies.  Our ped just saw our son for his 15 month appointment.  He's only taken a few stumbling steps on his own, although he can practically run as long as he has a finger to hold on to, and he only as a few words he uses.  Our ped's reaction - he's perfect.  He said we may not see him walk well on his own til 20 months.  He also wasn't worried at all about his speech.  I think as long as you see progress, there's no need to worry.  I've also heard that girls sometimes hit those milestones faster than boys - just an anecdote, but maybe there's something to it.
