How many oz???

Hi ladies! My 1 month old DD born at 35weeks is having trouble with my breasts so we are pumping and bottle feeding and also supplementing several bottles a day with formula. My question is how much should she be eating? When I was EBF it was 15min on each side and I would often have to rub her to keep her awake. I just want to make sure I'm not over/under feeding her. She typically eats 2.53oz and sometimes I can get her to eat 4...... TIA!!

How long does she sleep each stretch?

It varies. Sometimes 2 hours, sometimes 3.5. Rarely has she gone 4 hours but never more than that.

My lo was a 32wker and didnt eat more then 2ozs at a time until she hit 6minths actual. Her weight gain was fine so her pedi said not to stress about it. Shes a healthy 1 yo now. I think feed amounts vary so much with each baby that there really isnt a specific amount they need to take each feed, but if you are concerned you can always talk with your pedi and see what they think or even schedule weekly weigh ins to make sure lo is getting enough.

  • Thank you so much! DD goes about 2.5 hours between feeding but lately has been only going 2. I was wondering if I was feeding her enough 3oz or if I needed to bump it to 4if she will take it.

  • My 35 weeker wouldn't latch and had tongue tie. In the first couple weeks he struggled to eat 1 oz every 2 hours. He was up to 2 oz every 2 hours by 2 months. 4 oz every 2-3 hours at 3 months. He has been on 6 oz every 3-4 hours since 4 months.
  • My LO was born at 34 weeks, she is now one month old.  She typically takes 2 to 3 ounces of formula every 2 to 3 hours.  Four would be too much.  She's on enfamil enfacare 22 calorie for preemies. We've been using ready to feed as she did not like the powder formulation.  She's been tolerating this with minimal issues. GL!

  • The day my DD2 came home from the NICU she must of been having a growth spurt, because she started eating 3 oz. It was normally between 2 to 3 oz at about a month old.

  • My little one is 15 weeks old (9 weeks adjusted) and he is on the Similac Neosure formula for preemies.  He typically eats 2-3 oz. at each feeding (usually 2.5 most of the time) and tends to eat every 2 1/2 hours or so.  At night sometimes he will go 3-4 hours between feedings, but only once in awhile.  Some days he seems extra hungry and will want to eat every 2 hours.  He is growing and gaining weight, and the doc seemed pleased with his progress at the last check up so I guess he is getting enough.  He has acid reflux, so I think a smaller amount of food, more often, is actually easier for him to handle.
