Another Car Poll

So, I've narrowed down my car list. Here they are:

Volvo XC90

Ford Edge

Dodge Grand Caravan

Honda Odyssey

Nissan Murano

We're like 70% certain right now that we will not be having anymore kids, but it's still an open question. Which one would you choose?

Murano is very overpriced. My coworker has it and the Hyundai equivalent and regrets paying that much. She says the Hyundai has the same and more options, price cheaper and better warranty.

Yes, but I can't buy a Korean car. DH won't pay for it.

I have a 2012 Murano. We looked at a lot of small SUVs and it was by far our favorite. It is almost a luxury car tbh. It had far more amenities than any other car we test drove. We didn't look at the Edge but I wish we would have.

The Edge is getting to be my favorite on my list. Next to the Volvo.

If I had no budget I would got either the Lexus RX or Toureg TDI, but I love that Volvo too. It was just out of our budget.

I watch far too much Top Gear to get either of those vehicles. If I had no budget I'd probably get a Range Rover.

Seriously? The diesel Touareg is freaking awesome.

Yup. I like the one Range Rover they have. It's just barely outside my current budget too.

I have nothing but trouble with my Ford crossover, and I'm hearing the same from friends who have Fords as well. Just putting that out there.

That is good to know actually.

I love Top Gear but they aren't the end all be all of car reviews. I would do some other research, which I'm sure you have. I'm just saying. PS I'm an automotive engineer.

Oh, I know. I just not a huge fan of Lexus or VW. I do love me some Top Gear, and I obviously don;t listen to everything they say. Since I have American cars on my list and I didn't just say "I'm getting the XC90".

I only like it cuzs the new one looks cool. I think if I did a mini van I'd do the Odyssey. I'm still leaning towards an SUV though.

  • I really like the Ford Edge, but I too am nervous about Fords. My sister has had a Focus for a few years and really likes it.

I have always heard great things about the Honda and I love Honda anything. Have you looked at the Honda CRVs

I wish we would have bought the Odyssey. I also like the Pilot. Im still on the hint for the ideal SUV that will give us more seating space and cargo room. And not eat gas.

  • I really like the Murano and when we went car shopping back in 2010, that's originally what we went to look at.  In 2010, a base model of the Nissan Murano was the same price as the car we ended up getting - a fully loaded 2010 Chevy Equinox LTZ.

I also think they are over priced.  I do like the Edge.

  • You can never go wrong with a Honda IMO. I had a Pilot and loved it. DH talked me into getting a more expensive SUV later on and I didn't like it as much. It seated 8 and rode comfortably without feeling too big.

    Weird!

My SKs mom has a Ford Edge and she loves it, I will admit that it looks awesome too.

I wouldn't get a caravan. When we were looking the guy told us that there are so many of them on the road, they have a lot of problems and when you want to get rid of it the resale sucks.

No Toyota Sienna? I love, love my Sienna. Odessy's are great too.

I wasn't a fan of the Sienna. The Odyssey is on my list cuz of the vacuum. The Edge does look freaking awesome. If the Escape had more room in the boot I'd get one of those in a heartbeat.

  • I have an edge and absolutely love it!
  • imageScout2005:

The vacuum on the Odyssey is cool in theory until you realize you could just bring your handheld in from the house. I do that weekly, it's NBD, you know?

This of course assumes you have a hand held, but if you have kids/dogs I am assuming you have some quick, portable mess remover.

We have a regular Dyson. Things don't leave the house though. Not if they want to come back in.

  • IMO, the Edge is overpriced. But I guess that's all relative to your budget. We are also in the midst of shopping around for an SUV, and were originally very interested in the Ford Edge, they're turning out to be a little more expensive than we'd prefer. We've been looking at the Chevy Equinox and so far the prices are a little moee affordable.

We have a mini shop vac on a hook in the garage. It's only for the cars. It's a nice perk, but if there isn't anything else you love about the car, I wouldn't base a purchase off of it. Hondas are great though.

I picked the Acura MDX over the Volvo. The Volvo was on my list but I never even bothered to test drive it. Same with the Pilot. Fell in love with the MDX.
  • I will put my two cents in.

Foreign cars are very hard to get worked on....my dad has a MB SL- Class and he can only take it to the dealership. My mom has an Audi and same goes for her. It cost more as well for the parts.

Anyway, I've only ever had Honda's, I once had a ford something or other and I hated it.

I go for a Honda, they have great resale value and a great car

  • I'm a lurker, but need to chime in. I LOVE my 2010 Grand Caravan. Between the stow and go seats, automatic power doors/gate, and affordable price tag, I'm in soccer Mom heaven.

I know I said this in your last car post but I test drove most of those (plus the Pilot) and loved the Volvo XC90. It actually gets better mileage than my husband's Kia Amanti. It's safe, reliable, cute and has great acceleration (a requirement for me)

Also, did you see the Top Gear winter car olympics special. The XC90 won!!
